Joelinton, Alan Shearer react to Alexander Isak announcement at Newcastle United

Alexander Isak is the subject of a new announcement from Newcastle United, catching the attention of Joelinton and Alan Shearer.

Many supporters at St James’ Park are concerned about the potential for the Sweden international to depart during the summer transfer window, but Eddie Howe‘s side have been handed a significant boost.

The Magpies secured Champions League football with a top-five finish in the Premier League, even after losing 1-0 to David Moyes’ Everton on the final day, with Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa losing.

Securing the top level of European football for next season could mean a future for the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon, Aston Villa-linked Harvey Barnes at Newcastle, and Isak, too.

With the 2024/25 campaign finished, and the summer transfer window on the horizon, fans are excited and nervous all at the same time, with a new announcement now being made about the club’s best goalscorer.

Alexander Isak nominated for new award at Newcastle United

Taking to Instagram (28 May), the official club account wrote: “‘Wow, what a strike!’ Alexander Isak’s fine finish against Liverpool has been nominated for the Guinness Goal of the Season award.”

Lewis Miley, Shearer, and Joelinton all liked the announcement, showing support for Isak, who Newcastle are confident of tying down to a new deal this summer, Football Insider understands.

Eddie Howe to keep hold of Newcastle United stars

Football Insider verdict

The Magpies have been a serious threat in domestic competitions this season, even beating Arne Slot’s Liverpool side to the Carabao Cup title at Wembley Stadium, ending a 70-year drought.

Howe deserves to be applauded for his work at St James’ Park, with the Newcastle boss even being tipped to replace Thomas Tuchel as England manager, though the Magpies will not want that happening.

Alexander Isak, Newcastle United

The club only reached the group stage last time they were in the Champions League, but with multiple key players developing and a summer transfer window to bring in reinforcements, next season should be exciting.

Unai Emery‘s side at Villa Park had an incredible run in the competition this term, reaching the quarter-finals before losing to PSG, but it goes to show how clubs outside the “big six” can compete in Europe.

Howe will have ambitions to take this team further, and if he can keep the likes of Sandro Tonali, Guimaraes, and several other talents, there is no reason why he cannot reach those achievements.
