Joelinton reacts to Newcastle’s Tino Livramento message amid Man City transfer links
Joelinton has reacted to a new message from Newcastle United about Tino Livramento amid rumours of Man City’s interest in the Magpies’ right-back.
Livramento has emerged as one of the best young full-backs in the world since his move to Newcastle from Southampton in 2023 for an initial £32million [BBC] fee.
He signed a five-year contract at St James’ Park upon arrival, and Chelsea supporters will feel like their club made a mistake in selling him to Saints in 2021, given his impressive form in the two years since.
The 22-year-old’s strong form in the most recent campaign has seen him linked away from Tyneside, with former scout Mick Brown revealing to Football Insider before the season even ended that Newcastle were putting plans in place for Livramento’s exit amid interest from Man City.
Brown told Football Insider on 1 July that the Citizens are set to step up their interest in Livramento as Pep Guardiola aims to bring in a new right-back following Kyle Walker’s exit, and Football Insider revealed on 6 July that Newcastle are doing all they can to try and keep Livramento right now, but it could be to no avail.

Newcastle send heartfelt Livramento message after training return
Livramento helped England Under-21’s win the European Championships in Slovakia last month, and was granted extra time-off by Eddie Howe as a result, so did not initially travel with his teammates on their pre-season trip to Austria or play in the Magpies’ friendly loss to Celtic [Shields Gazette].
The 22-year-old has now joined Newcastle’s first-team squad for their tour of Asia [Newcastle], and the club took their official Instagram account on Friday (25 July) to pen a message to him following his return, saying: “Great to have you back with us, Tino” alongside a picture of him in his training-wear.
Newcastle’s message was liked by Livramento’s teammates Joelinton, Kieran Trippier and Lewis Miley, while Sean Longstaff, who recently left the club to join Leeds, also liked the post.
Livramento should push through a move to Man City
Football Insider verdict
Based off his Premier League performances in the last few years, the sky is the limit for Livramento in terms of his potential as a right-back, and he will want another stellar campaign in 2025/26 to be able to book his ticket to the World Cup with England next year.
Newcastle are facing a dilemma of sorts in the transfer market right now, with Alexander Isak wanting a move away and the Magpies missing out on numerous targets, so it is understandable as to why they will not want to part ways with a key player like Livramento anytime soon.

With that said, a move to the Etihad Stadium will obviously appeal to the 22-year-old due to Man City’s status and spending power, and he would have a real chance to stake a claim to be Guardiola’s starting right-back if he was to join them this summer.
There is no recognised right-back in his squad, as Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis are both able to play there but have a preference for midfield, so the chance to join them and potentially become a first-choice in his main position for a number of years to come has to be too good to turn down for Livramento.
The Times (21 July) have reported that the Tyneside outfit are readying a six-year contract offer that would make the England international one of the club’s top earners, however, so a move to sign him is not set to be easy, and Newcastle will definitely dig their heels in if the Citizens do make an approach soon.
