John Aldridge predicts Liverpool v Sunderland, backs out-of-favour player to score

By Harvey Byrne

John Aldridge believes that Liverpool will once again pick up all three points in their Monday afternoon fixture against Sunderland.

The ex-Reds forward has tipped his former side to make it five victories from five matches with a 2-1 win at the Stadium of Light.

Additionally, he also believes that out-of-favour striker Daniel Sturridge will get on the score sheet in the clash.

The 27-year-old has struggled for match time under Jurgen Klopp this season with just 13 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this campaign.

However, Aldridge believes that he will add to his five goals tally against the Black Cats in a tight encounter.

Liverpool have a good record against Sunderland, losing just once in their previous 14 encounters.

Their previous fixture in November brought a comfortable 2-0 victory for the Merseyside giants with goals from Divock Origi and James Milner securing all three points at Anfield.

The two sides are now currently competing at opposite ends of the table with the Reds in second and six points behind league leaders Chelsea.

A win for Klopp’s side will see them move within three points of Antonio Conte’s side, who are set to play Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.

By contrast, the Black Cats are sat in 18th and will need a victory to leapfrog Crystal Palace and move outside of the relegation zone.
