John Hartson: I would love to see Celtic sign this attacker
By Derek Smithson
John Harston has revealed that he would “love” Celtic to complete a permanent deal for attacker Patrick Roberts in the summer.
The 20-year-old winger has spent the last 18 months on loan at the Scottish giants from Manchester City and managed to develop his game immensely.
He helped the Bhoys win a domestic treble last season and became an important player under manager Brendan Rodgers.
Roberts made 60 appearances during his stay with Celtic, scoring 17 goals and supplying 21 assists in return.
The Daily Mirror have reported that Rodgers’ side are closing in on a deal for the wide man, with talks believed to be at an “advanced stage”.

Roberts managed to cement his place in the starting line-up for Celtic on the right wing and was part of a superb attacking set-up.
They also had the likes of Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths and Stuart Armstrong in brilliant goalscoring form throughout the campaign.
Roberts is unlikely to break into a very competitive side at the Etihad Stadium next year and Scotland may be the best place for him to develop his game.
In other Celtic transfer news: the club’s 27-year-old defender could leave in the summer.
