Jonathan David, Ivan Toney, En-Nesyri: Big Tottenham striker update

Tottenham Hotspur are set to make signing a number nine their priority this summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his attacking options.

Speaking on the latest Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who is very well connected at his former club, revealed that Tottenham are looking at several targets to cover this position.

Football Insider revealed that Postecoglou is “obsessed” with bringing in a number nine to lead the line ahead of the new campaign.

Spurs failed to replace Harry Kane last year, and with no team in the top seven of the 2023-24 Premier League table scoring fewer goals than them, it is an area that needs to be focused on.

Robinson named Youssef En-Nesyri, Jonathan David, and Ivan Toney as players Spurs have been linked with, although he did note that things with Tony “have gone quiet.”

It’s important, regardless of who it is, that it’s a player that fits Ange’s system, the way that he wants to play,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“It’s not just a case of identifying a number nine; it’s a case of identifying a number nine playing in the way that the manager wants.

“The links don’t go away, whether it’s David, whether it’s Ivan Toney. The number nine position at Tottenham does seem like a priority.

“But I’ll state, Tottenham don’t go out there and throw big transfer fees about, so I suspect it will be a player that’s been very cleverly recruited.”

In other news, Tottenham are set to offer a two-year contract to this forward.
