Jonathan Kodjia sends message to fans after Aston Villa win against Rotherham

By Amir Mir

Jonathan Kodjia stated that he was pleased to see so many “smiling faces” after Aston Villa beat Rotherham 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Striker Kodjia started the match and helped produce the goods for Steve Bruce when he scored for the second game running.

The 27-year-old fired home his shot with minutes left on the clock to help seal the points for his team after Will Vaulks had converted into his own net.

This follows his goal against Bristol City on Tuesday, a game in which the Midlands club won by the same scoreline, but Kodjia did miss a penalty kick during that match.

After the game, Kodjia sent this message to supporters who will be delighted with their star man scoring yet another goal.

“Great to see so many smiling and happy faces supporting the team,” Kodjia wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Ivory Coast international Kodjia joined Villa from Championship rivals Bristol City in the summer for a fee that could rise to £15million.

He has been part of a number of big money players to have joined the club since their relegation, especially in the attacking department.

Ross McCormack, who is now on loan at Nottingham Forest, joined the club for £12million, while Scott Hogan moved from Brentford in January for a similar fee to Kodjia’s.

McCormack struggled during his time at Villa Park, netting on only three occasions for the club, while Hogan is yet to get off the mark in four matches.

But, Kodjia has lived up to his billing scoring 13 goals in 31 league games for the struggling second-tier side.
