Jordan Henderson responds to Liverpool message amid Nottingham Forest links

Jordan Henderson has responded to a message from Liverpool amid transfer interest from Nottingham Forest.

Before joining Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ettifaq in 2023, Henderson enjoyed a stellar career with Liverpool, captaining the Reds to the Premier League title in 2020.

The former Sunderland man moved to Ajax in January 2024, but appears set to leave the Dutch giants ahead of next season.

Following the Black Cats’ promotion to the Premier League, Henderson has been linked with a Sunderland return.

Henderson responds to Liverpool’s Adam Lallana message

The ex-Sunderland midfielder’s Liverpool career heavily crossed over with that of former England international Adam Lallana.

Meanwhile, after an underwhelming return to Southampton last season, Lallana announced his retirement on Wednesday, 25 June.

Taking to Instagram [25 June], Liverpool posted: “All the best in your retirement, Adam.”

While Henderson has attracted interest from Nottingham Forest, he showed his appreciation to his former teammate by commenting with a red heart emoji.

Henderson could be a great addition for Nottingham Forest

Since Thomas Tuchel has become England manager, Henderson has re-entered the Three Lions fold and started in the 1-0 victory over Andorra in a World Cup qualifier on 7 June.

But to remain in international contention ahead of next summer’s World Cup, the former Liverpool man should be keen on making a Premier League return.

Meanwhile, a move to Nottingham Forest could be perfect for both parties, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men look to continue their positive momentum in the Premier League, as well as enjoying a European campaign in the Conference League.

Forest appeared likely to finish in the Champions League spots for large spells of last season, but instead hit a bad spell of form at exactly the wrong time and finished seventh.

But the presence of a richly experienced former Premier League and Champions League winner in Henderson could help Espirito Santo’s side enjoy greater success next season.
