‘Jose Mourinho to Leeds United after Daniel Farke sack’ – ‘Amazing’ update

Jose Mourinho could find himself back in the Premier League after being tipped to replace Daniel Farke as the Leeds United manager.

After a run of just one win in six games, the Whites have bounced back to the top of the Championship table with back-to-back victories against Middlesbrough and Preston.

While Scott Parker’s Burnley side have remained strong in their chase for automatic promotion, Sheffield United and Chris Wilder have suffered, most recently losing to Plymouth Argyle and causing a scene.

Winning promotion back to the Premier League is now back in Farke’s hands, while he remains under pressure from Leeds fans to get their team out of the Championship at the second time of asking.

Having lost the Championship play-off final to Southampton last term, some have questioned the current manager’s abilities, especially given his previous record with Norwich City when winning promotion.

With that in mind, Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy discussed the idea of Mourinho taking over once Premier League football is delivered to Elland Road, which is bound to raise some eyebrows.

Jose Mourinho to bring baggage to Elland Road as Leeds United boss

Speaking live on talkSPORT (17 April, 4:46pm), Goldstein said: “No one likes Leeds, no one likes Jose [Mourinho], wouldn’t that be amazing?” to which Cundy agreed: “That would be amazing…”

Goldstein then asked: “What do you make of getting rid of managers, who perhaps haven’t done it in the Premier League but have taken the club into it, like Daniel Farke?”

Cundy replied: “Gosh. What a terrible decision to have to make. Well done, you’re sacked. You’ve achieved the ultimate goal, got us promoted, and now you’re sacked. I don’t know why you’d do that, but I understand the concept.

“Jose is a car crash himself. He brings a lot of baggage. It’s like he’s pulling the Titanic. I don’t know why you’d rip it up [Farke’s contract], unless there’s a massive falling out, which has happened before.”

Daniel Farke deserves chance to prove himself with Leeds in the Premier League

Football Insider verdict

Farke absolutely deserves the chance to prove himself in the Premier League if he can deliver promotion this season, but given his history in the competition, the concern is understandable.

The 48-year-old claimed promotion out of the Championship twice with Norwich during his time at Carrow Road, though the Canaries quickly sank back down to the second tier of English football.

Daniel Farke won just six Premier League games in his managerial career.

With just six total wins in the Premier League as a manager, Leeds fans have every right to fear for their club’s prospects not season, but some might see that as getting ahead of themselves right now.

It is the kind of thing that owners will be thinking about, however, and while Mourinho is known for his outbursts, disagreements, and overall difficulty to work with, his achievements speak for themselves.

Chelsea fans will testify just how good the Portuguese figure was during his two separate spells at Stamford Bridge, and with him now at Fenerbahce, it would be interesting to see him take on a new challenge.
