‘Josh Sargent set for move’ after Leeds United swoop
Leeds United are long-term admirers of Norwich City striker Josh Sargent, who has been in free-scoring form since his return from injury.
Canaries legend Chris Sutton has now spoken out on the prospect of a move for the United States international with Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side failing to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds have made a move for Sargent, 25, since their return to the Championship – while Everton and Nottingham Forest have also been mentioned as potential destinations.
The striker has hit 14 goals and notched five assists in 26 league games this term after a spell on the sidelines with a groin injury.
That total is just one short of Joel Piroe’s 15-goal tally in the Championship this season – with the Leeds man playing 40 games in the 2024-25 campaign.

Sutton backs Sargent for Premier League move – ‘now is the time’
Speaking to the Pink Un (2 April), ex-Norwich frontman Sutton claimed Sargent has “outgrown” the club — and insisted “now is the time” for him to move on.
He also claimed “Sargent has all the attributes to show that he can be a really accomplished Premier League striker or in any top league across Europe”.

Leeds are fighting for promotion to the top tier but suffered a blow on Saturday (5 April) when they dropped points away at Luton, leaving them third.
Sargent is under contract until June 2028 but Sutton believes Norwich cannot begrudge the forward for moving on this summer.

Sargent could prove useful addition for Leeds
Football Insider Verdict
All eyes at Leeds will be trained on ensuring they are promoted to the Premier League for next season, but Sargent could prove a useful addition no matter what division they are in.
The Whites will be under pressure to add firepower if they ascend to the top division but have also lacked cutting edge this season following the departures of Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville last summer (2024).
Sargent has played top-division football in England and Germany previously to little effect but could return with a vengeance next term with more experience and importantly – more goals to his name.
Football Insider revealed last month (1 March) that Leeds are set to aim higher than Sargent in their pursuit of a new striker this summer – but if the price is right, the United States international could arrive at Elland Road alongside the big-money arrival fans will crave.
Understandably, question marks over Piroe’s suitability to the Premier League will emerge and Leeds may have to refresh their attack completely to survive in the top tier.
