Josh Windass has hit back at one Rangers fan who criticised him after he won the Ladbrokes Player of the Month for February.

The news was posted on the official Rangers Twitter page and was met with mostly congratulations from the fans.

However, one fan took it as the right time to slam the Rangers attacker, and he tagged in Windass to the tweet.

That got the attention of the Rangers player – who has been on fire in recent weeks with six goals in his last six Premiership games, including the opener in the Old Firm clash.

He replied directly to the Rangers fan and then thought better of it and deleted the tweet, which was later printed in the Scottish Sun.

Windass then followed up explaining why he’d deleted the tweet, saying he was going to go off on one but didn’t want to get in trouble.

Football Insider verdict:

The Rangers fan will hopefully think twice before tagging a player into criticism. Especially at a time when he should have been celebrating the award. The Windass tweet isn’t that bad and Rangers fans would love to see that sort of commitment to the club. However, he obviously thought it was better not to get in a slanging match with the fan, and he’s probably right. Not much good generally comes of stuff like that on social media.
