Josh Windass hails Rangers senior man on Twitter after display v Hamilton

By Harvey Byrne

Josh Windass paid tribute to hat-trick hero Joe Garner on Twitter on Saturday afternoon after Rangers ran out 6-0 victors against Hamilton.

It was a momentous occasion for the Ibrox giants as they had seemingly put past woes behind themselves with the sensational scoreline in the Scottish Cup quarter-final stage.

Goals from Martyn Waghorn, Jon Toral and Clint Hill completed the scoreline alongside Garner’s hat-trick and it was the senior striker who received Windass’ praise.

The 23-year-old midfielder was not part of the 18-man weekend squad, but he was clearly still keeping an eye on the match as he posted Garner alongside the hand celebration emoji on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

The three goals for Garner marked his seventh goal in all competitions for the Glaswegian giants since he completed a move from Preston in the summer.

Windass also joined in the summer window, but he has found first team football harder to come by with his last outing coming in a 4-1 defeat against Hearts at the beginning of January.

He will be hoping to feature more regularly in the future, but with January additions Emerson Hyndman and now Jon Toral performing well in the team he may find it difficult.
