Josko Gvardiol is new Liverpool 'priority' as big-name exit tipped - Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Liverpool should make Josko Gvardiol a “priority” summer signing with injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate presenting a problem for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted backup star Joe Gomez should be sold this summer.
This site revealed on Sunday (26 March) that Liverpool are in the running to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Gvardiol this summer.
The Merseysiders face strong competition for the Croatia international from rivals Man United and Man City – as well as European giants Real Madrid.
According to the Daily Mail (2 March), Gvardiol has a release clause in his contract worth £97million that will be introduced in the summer of 2024.
Joe Gomez has come in for criticism while deputising for first-choice duo Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate this season, and Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for veteran centre-back Joel Matip.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think a new centre-back has to be a priority.
“I like the starting two, Van Dijk and Konate – but I would sell Gomez.
“Matip can stay as cover, and Liverpool should be going out and getting Gvardiol.
“He’s shown what he can do on the biggest stage at the World Cup and in the Champions League, and you can picture him next to Van Dijk or Konate.
“Liverpool need him because they’ve had such bad injury problems this season, and it’s hurt them. Van Dijk isn’t getting any younger.”
