Eunan O’Kane and Vurnon Anita were forced to do laps of the pitch at Pride Park after being axed from the Leeds United squad for their clash against Derby on Wednesday night, according to a reliable journalist.
The senior pair were not only dropped from the starting XI but also missed out on the matchday 18 altogether for the Championship fixture.
Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay subsequently reported on his personal Twitter account that O’Kane and Anita were nevertheless members of the United travelling party and spent 20 minutes “running laps of the pitch” before the match kicked off.

O’Kane, 27, was in the Leeds starting XI for each of Paul Heckingbottom’s first two matches in charge, against Sheffield United and Bristol City.
Anita, who was a key member of Newcastle United’s promotion-winning side last season, also started the 2-2 draw against Bristol City last weekend and had an impressive game at right-back.
Heckingbottom has opted to replace Anita with Gaetano Berardi at right-back, while Ronaldo Vieira has come in for O’Kane in central midfield, with Kalvin Phillips the back-up on the bench.
