Journalist: Tottenham to reveal deadline-day swoop for international speed machine

Tottenham are set to reveal the signing of Paris Saint Germain winger Lucas Moura on Wednesday after completing the necessary paperwork before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, according to a journalist.
The Telegraph’s chief football correspondent Jason Burt has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Lilywhites have agreed terms with the 25-year-old Brazilian international and that the move is a done deal, with just the announcement to be made.
The 35-cap speed machine has been firmly out of favour with French giants PSG this season, with just five outings across all competitions to take his total number of appearances to 229, having scored 46 goals and chipping in with 50 assists.
Lucas looks set to be Spurs’ only signing of the winter window, with just a handful of loan departures the club’s only activity this month.
Football Insider verdict
There can be no doubts that Mauricio Pochettino has worked his magic to get what many fans will see as a next-level capture. The Brazilian is such an exciting talent and the fact PSG have let him rot on the bench this season should be no judgement of his ability; after all, he has been fighting for a place with international compatriot Neymar. A move to the Lilywhites should reinvigorate him and will be a welcome boost to the first team, although there will still be questions about just how he will fit into the starting XI. It may be rotation across the competitions sees him establish himself, and fight it out with the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
In other Tottenham transfer news, a flop could see his summer deal torn up after a major bombshell.
