Jurgen Klopp ‘can’t believe’ what is happening at Liverpool after latest – pundit

Alan Hutton has said Jurgen Klopp “doesn’t know what’s going on” at Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said it is a difficult period of time for the Reds at the moment but they should never be written off.

Gomez, 25, and Matip, 31, started together at centre-back for Klopp’s side for the first time since November 2021 and endured a torrid time as the Reds were beaten 3-0 by Wolves on Saturday (4 February).

Virgil van Dijk has been absent since the 3-1 defeat to Brentford at the beginning of January and Ibrahima Konate is out for three weeks with a muscle injury.

The Merseysiders are currently tenth in the Premier League with just one win from their last five games.

When asked if Klopp’s hands are tied with defensive issues, Hutton told Football Insider:At this moment in time yes.

He went with Gomez and Matip and they are two players that strike me as needing to play with someone like Van Dijk. He is the leader and I think they need to play alongside someone like that.

When they are together I just feel like something is going to happen. Konate is out injured as well so it is a difficult period of time, it just seems like nothing is clicking.

Liverpool

I do not think you can ever write them off. I think top four is too far for them now but they can still affect where the title goes.

At this moment in time and it looks as if Jurgen Klopp does not really know what is going on, he can’t really believe what he is seeing at times.
