Jurgen Klopp slammed by pundit after ‘nonsensical’ Liverpool comments – ‘I see right through it’

Kevin Campbell is baffled by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s “nonsensical” comments over the Premier League’s scheduling.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker suggested the 54-year-old was “diverting the pressure” from his players ahead of the Southampton match.

The Reds made nine changes for the trip to St. Mary’s on Tuesday night.

Speaking prior to the 2-1 win, as quoted by The Telegraph (16 May), Klopp complained about the Premier League scheduling and suggested the game should have been played on Thursday.

Liverpool played 120 minutes and a penalty shootout against Chelsea on Saturday.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Jurgen Klopp had a point, Campbell said: “Hold on a minute.

“They played Saturday and then Tuesday. That happens all of the time. That is what happens in the Champions League and you have to include travel with that.

“I don’t want to hear this nonsense from Klopp. The fact of the matter is, if the FA Cup final got done in 90 minutes Klopp still would have complained. Nobody can predict that it is going to go to extra time. It is just the way the game pans out.

“Jurgen Klopp is a master of diverting the pressure. It is a good move but I see right through it. Come on now.

“These fixtures have to be put in place. This is what happens when you’re competing on all fronts until the end of the season.”
