Jurgen Klopp’s ‘favourite player’ wants to quit Premier League club and ‘move to Liverpool’

Jarrod Bowen would be open to leaving West Ham in a move to Liverpool this summer, according to the club’s former senior scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the 28-year-old wants to win trophies and play at the highest level.

Bowen is happy at West Ham and will not push for a move away, but if Liverpool make an offer which is deemed acceptable by the board, he would not turn down the move.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in February that Liverpool want Bowen to replace Mohamed Salah should the 32-year-old leave upon the expiry of his contract in June.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 5 April that Liverpool want to sign Bowen as a potential alternative to Salah and Newcastle star Alexander Isak.

The England international is capable as playing both as a right-winger and as a striker, and scored his ninth goal of the season in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

Former Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp made no attempt to hide his admiration for Bowen during his Liverpool reign and regularly hailed him as his “favourite player”.

West Ham respond to Liverpool interest in Jarrod Bowen

Brown told Football Insider in October that West Ham have no plans to sell Bowen, and he is happy at the club with a contract that is set to run until 2030.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Bowen is interested in the idea of moving to Liverpool.

The chance to play for Liverpool would appeal to any player,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s an opportunity to win trophies and play at the highest level.

“He’s happy at West Ham, he’s very highly thought-of there and he’s getting in the England squad, so I don’t expect him to force a move through or anything like that.

“But if he didn’t want to make a move which would boost his career, I’d be very surprised.

“A footballer’s career is very short, so you’ve got to make the most of these opportunities.

“So I think he will be open to a move to Liverpool if it comes, but first there will have to be an offer which the club deem acceptable.

“What that price will be, I’m not sure, but he won’t come cheap that’s for certain.”

Mohamed Salah contract update emerges at Anfield

As Liverpool begin looking at Bowen alongside a number of possible alternatives, Salah’s future remains very much up in the air as his contract is set to expire in June.

Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are pushing to agree terms with Salah, but every time they think they have made a breakthrough, they are taken back to square one.

As things stand, an agreement is expected to come down to the finer details of the 32-year-old’s contract but the Reds want talks wrapped up before the season ends.

Football Insider revealed in March that Salah’s Liverpool contract talks have been delayed as they have so-far been unable to reach an agreement about the length of the deal.
