Kalvin Phillips will explode at Man City after source's Leeds reveal - pundit
Alan Hutton has suggested leaving Leeds United for Manchester City this summer could take Kalvin Phillips’ game to the “next level”.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 26-year-old would flourish working in Pep Guardiola’s “very structured” system.
As revealed by Football Insider on Monday (13 June), City have tabled a bid for Phillips after making him their top target for the summer.
Around £50million could be enough to tempt Leeds into selling.
Significantly, a recruitment source told this site on Wednesday (15 June) that Phillips has informed his boyhood club he wants to join City before the end of the window.
Hutton admitted it could be difficult for the midfielder to force his way straight into Guardiola’s plans.

However, he suggested the Spanish manager could unlock Phillips‘ full potential at City.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He’s 26-years-of-age now, an international player. He’s probably ready for that next level.
“It doesn’t matter how much you spend, look at Jack Grealish at £100million. It doesn’t guarantee you’re going to start, you have to go in and prove your worth.
“He’s a specialist in what he does, he’s different to what they have, I think, as well. I think there’s a good opportunity for him to move.
“It’s going be difficult for him to break straight into the squad. You have to be willing to learn the Pep way, which is difficult. You have to be very structured but I think he’s that type of player, he likes structure.
“That’s how he plays, from a defensive structure moving forward. We’ve seen in previous games, especially for England, he can get forward if he wants to. It’s up to him now, it’s up to him to show Pep that he can take on instructions and play that way.
“At Leeds, as we’ve seen before, especially under Bielsa, it was a bit all over the place with man-to-man marking. This is totally different, but I believe he can play at that level, he can play at that standard.
“He wants to go and win things, like everybody else. I think it would be a good move.”
