Klopp confirms who will start in goal for next Liverpool PL game
Jurgen Klopp has admitted that stopper Loris Karius is the Reds number one after his side’s 4-3 win over Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Liverpool manager told German media outlet Dazn De that after the keeper’s performance, he was now ahead of Simon Mignolet in the Anfield pecking order.

“Yes, he is the new number one,” Klopp told DAZN.
“With goalkeepers you have to commit yourself, in other positions you can change.”
Mignolet, has been on the receiving end of widespread criticism throughout his time at Anfield and has often been accused of being error-prone, poor in decision making, and unable to clear his lines accurately.
However, Karius’s performance in the victory against the Citizens was not without fault and the German youth international was perhaps to blame for City’s first two goals and on another day could have faced comment for failing to stop the efforts.
Since joining from Mainz 05 in 2015, the German has found his game time limited to just 27 appearances, and perhaps worryingly for supporters of the Reds, the Liverpool Echo reckons that Klopp is not looking at signing a new keeper at the moment.
The position has been Klopp’s Achilles heel throughout his two years at the club and one that continues to be unresolved – at least on the evidence of the City game.
