Keith Wyness changes his mind on Keith Andrews after ‘big issue’ at Brentford
Keith Andrews has proved everybody wrong with the job he has done at Brentford this season.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who did not believe that Andrews would succeed at Brentford.
Andrews replaced Thomas Frank as Brentford manager last summer to take what is his first managerial role in the Premier League.
Brentford’s 4-2 win at Everton leaves the Bees only four points off the Champions League places, with Igor Thiago having netted 14 goals this season.
Keith Andrews has done ‘great job’ at Brentford
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thought Andrews would not be able to handle the pressure of being a Premier League manager.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Andrews has done “impeccably well” at the London club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, on my Christmas lunch this year, after I’d finished the Christmas lunch, I had a large portion of Keith Andrews’ humble pie. And I’ve got to say, I had to eat it all because I did say that he was going to be somebody I really had nailed on to be a problem.
“He’s proven me wrong. I’m very happy to admit it. He has done a great job. He’s kept his head under the parapet, which I thought was going to be one of the big issues, would be the way he handled the media and the pressure. He’s done that impeccably well. He’s built a great team squad. He’s got them firing, playing very attacking, pressing football and scoring some goals.
“So look, full marks to Keith Andrews. Very happy for him because it’s a great club, Brentford. I really like the people at Brentford. And the new owners have come in. They also have played a very sort of quiet role, which is good. And look, it’s good luck to him. He’s done it, and he’s proven that I was wrong.
“Mind you, it’s probably the only prediction I’ve really been that far wrong with, but I’ll accept it. And you’re quite right, I say the humble pie was delicious, and I’m proud to have eaten it.”

Brentford talent to leave on loan
Brentford missed out on signing Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson, but the club do not seem in a rush to add to their squad amid their fine season so far.
23-year-old Myles Peart-Harris could leave Brentford on loan and join Championship strugglers Oxford United for the rest of the season.
The midfielder has appeared just once for the Bees in the Premier League this season, and is in need of regular playing time.
