Keith Wyness drops Everton bombshell: ‘I’m hearing strong rumours’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has revealed he has heard the club’s Friedkin Group takeover will be complete “within the next two weeks”.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the completion will allow the Toffees to land their top January targets.
The Friedkin Group agreed a deal in September to buy Everton owner Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in the club, and is currently undergoing the regulatory processes before taking control.
It has been widely reported that American billionaire Dan Friedkin has already started the hiring process for a new CEO at Goodison Park, despite not yet completing the deal.
Everton are currently five points above the drop zone in the Premier League but will have the chance to add to their squad in the transfer window next month.
Everton takeover will be done before January window opens, says Wyness
Wyness insisted Friedkin and his team will be hard at work to identify potential January signings.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The longer this takeover goes on, your top targets for January disappear.
“The sooner it’s done, the better for everybody.
“It’s better for the staff, the management team, the players.

“I’m hearing very strong rumours that within the next two weeks, it will be happening.
“That would allow some time before the transfer window, and I’m sure the work is already being done in terms of transfers and what they want to do.”
