Keith Wyness drops new West Ham relegation prediction after ‘big shift’ emerges
The Premier League relegation battle could go down to the wire between West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who has given his prediction after West Ham beat Tottenham 2-1 last time out.
The victory was West Ham‘s first in the Premier League since October, and reduced the gap on safety to five points.
West Ham are taking a risk with their January transfer business in a bid to secure their Premier League status for another season.
West Ham have ‘slim chance of staying up’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – is backing Nottingham Forest to survive in the battle at the bottom.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness states there was a “big shift” in West Ham’s survival chances after their victory over Spurs.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, again, it’s a fabulous league. It’s very exciting. And West Ham still have a slim chance of staying up, although I tend to look at the bookies and look at the odds because they have very sophisticated algorithms working out the options and the different routes.
“And West Ham looked dead and buried as far as the bookies are concerned, but there was a big shift after the Spurs result. And it really depends, I think, whether Forest make a slip or not.
“I think it’s going to be between those two and Sean Dyche has got the experience of getting something out of it, and I don’t think Forest will make the mistake, so I do believe that West Ham will end up going down this season, but it’s going to be tight.”

West Ham update Callum Wilson stance
West Ham have decided not to terminate Callum Wilson’s contract, and the striker may now stay at the London Stadium until the end of the season.
Wilson’s winning goal at Spurs looks to have changed West Ham’s position on the 33-year-old’s future, although Saudi Arabia remain interested in a deal.
The former Newcastle and Bournemouth striker has scored five goals for the Hammers in the Premier League this campaign.
