Keith Wyness: Man United ‘won’t change’ Casemiro decision despite Villa masterclass
Manchester United will not be changing their minds about letting Casemiro leave the club at the end of the season.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Man United do need to “refresh” their midfield.
Casemiro announced in January that he would leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the campaign after four seasons at the club.
The 34-year-old has scored in the last two Premier League matches, including the opener in a crucial 3-1 win over Aston Villa last time out.
The likes of Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton are on Man United’s list of targets to replace Casemiro, who look on course to be able to offer Champions League football next season.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes there is no chance that Casemiro will be offered a new deal to remain at Man United.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the Red Devils “can’t be reliant” on the Brazilian and must take their opportunity to part ways.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Look, he is very important, but I don’t think he’s going to be there for another year. I’m afraid that this is going to be it.
“I think he’s going to be gone. I think, what is he, 34 now? I don’t think there’s a chance of them doing that. United, in their present mood and mode, have to refresh and get some younger legs into that midfield.
“Although he’s done a great job, I’m afraid I don’t see him there next season. And I think a lot of the United fans will understand that, but they’ve got to have a chance to move on, replace him. They can’t be reliant on a guy like that. So I don’t think he’ll be renewed for next season.”
Man United remain open to Marcus Rashford return
Former chief scout at Old Trafford Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man United would welcome Marcus Rashford back to the club.
Barcelona have yet to strike an agreement with Man United for Rashford, with the 28-year-old keen to remain at the Spanish club once his loan spell expires.
Rashford does not have a desire to return to Man United, with the forward having been an unwanted member of the squad during Ruben Amorim’s time in charge.
