Keith Wyness rates Liverpool’s chances of guaranteed Champions League qualification after what he spotted
Liverpool cannot afford too many more defeats if they are to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who says that Champions League football is “crucial” for Liverpool.
Arne Slot faces the sack at Liverpool if his side do not make the top four this season, with the Reds currently sixth in the Premier League table.
Liverpool picked up a crucial 1-0 win at Sunderland last time out in the league, but Slot’s team have struggled for consistency in recent months.

Liverpool face ‘big challenge’ making Champions League
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Liverpool need to begin scoring more goals.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness though thinks they are beginning to “show some form.”
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Champions League is crucial for Arne Slot and for Liverpool and that is their big challenge.
“They’ve got to finish strongly, they’re starting to show some form and injuries are coming back slightly, but they’ve got to get that goal scoring back. That back four seems to be a little bit more solid recently, so they’re showing some signs of improvement there.
“But still a couple of losses and Liverpool could be missing that top five position. So it’s going to be all to watch how they finish.”

Liverpool keeping tabs on Newcastle star
Liverpool could pursue Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon in the summer, with the 24-year-old having scored 14 goals in all competitions this season.
Mohamed Salah is expected to depart Anfield in the summer, so Liverpool will be looking to add to their wide options.
Liverpool would want to agree a cut-price deal for Gordon, as the club want to be cautious with their spending following their huge transfer spend last summer.
