Keith Wyness shares what sources have told him about West Ham sacking Nuno Espirito Santo

West Ham’s problems do not solely lie with manager Nuno Espirito Santo with his job at the London Stadium safe for now.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who does not think a managerial change will improve West Ham‘s current situation.

West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Brighton last time out extended their winless run in the Premier League to eight games.

Nuno joined West Ham as manager in September following the sacking of Graham Potter, though the London club have still been unable to move out of the relegation zone under the former Nottingham Forest boss.

West Ham ‘problems’ don’t rest with Nuno Espirito Santo

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes West Ham’s board should be taking greater responsibility for their on-pitch struggles.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Nuno is one of the best managers West Ham could expect to be in charge right now.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think they’d be silly to try and do that because I think those people in the game that I’ve spoken to realise it isn’t necessarily the manager where the issues are.

“It is definitely in the history of some of the players that have been bought, the squad that’s been assembled. That’s where the problems seem to lie. And I think Nuno actually has got them playing a little bit better than before. And I think he’s not the problem.

“I think it’s got to look a little bit further up the chain than that, and that seems to be the common consensus from all the West Ham contacts I’ve spoken to as well.

“So, now I don’t think they’ll make the change with Nuno. I think he’ll stay in. I don’t think you can actually find somebody much better than Nuno to actually handle this situation. So I don’t expect a change.”

West Ham submit bid for new striker

West Ham have submitted an offer for Rafiu Durosinmi, as the club look to sign a striker in the January window to boost their survival chances.

Durosinmi plays for Viktoria Plzen and has scored 13 goals in 30 appearances for the Czech club this season.

The Hammers have scored just 21 times in 19 Premier League games, and Niclas Fullkrug is set to depart to weaken their depth in the striker position.
