Keith Wyness: Tottenham PSR fears and financial issues are ‘hard to believe’
Tottenham Hotspur should not be finding themselves in a difficult position with profit and sustainability rules.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after chief executive Vinai Venkatesham’s claims.
Speaking to the Fan Advisory Board, Venkatesham said that the club is having to monitor the finances and plan ahead to avoid breaching any rules following the reign of Daniel Levy.
Levy, who left Spurs in September 2025, was called out by Venkatesham for the club having recording losses for the last four consecutive years.
Venkatesham said he was focused on Spurs growing revenue to improve their financial position, which could help them spend more money in the transfer market.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – finds the comments from Venkatesham “very hard to believe.”
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said he would be digging deeper into the figures.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’d find it very hard to believe that they’re going to be in a big PSR position given the stadium revenues and the other commercial revenues they’ve got.
“They’ve hardly been profligate in the market either, so I don’t really see that. I’ve got to look at the numbers in more detail, but that seems strange.”
Tottenham make Cristian Romero transfer decision
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Spurs are open to letting Cristian Romero leave the club at the end of the season.
Atletico Madrid have held previous interest in the 27-year-old, whose public outbursts and two red cards this season have done little to aid Spurs’ fight against relegation.
Micky van de Ven could also leave in the summer transfer window, meaning Spurs could be left to replace their two main starting centre halves before the beginning of next season.
