Kemar Roofe ‘devastated’ at what’s now happened at Rangers – expert

Alan Hutton has suggested there is a “big question mark” over Kemar Roofe’s future at Rangers and revealed he has been left “devastated” by his latest misfortune.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said Roofe may have to “look elsewhere” if he can’t stay injury-free.

The 30-year-old was ruled out for the remainder of the season back in March after undergoing hip surgery but had not featured for the Light Blues since February.

The forward made just six appearances for Michael Beale’s side during a season plagued by injuries.

As relayed by the Daily Record (3 May), the former Jamaica international has been in Qatar receiving specialist treatment for his injury in a push to return next season.

Roofe will have one year left on his Ibrox contract at the end of the current campaign after joining from Anderlecht in 2020.

Hutton insisted Roofe has what it takes to return to the starting XI.

I feel sorry for him, I do believe he is a really good player,” he told Football Insider.

I think he has probably been a miss for Rangers at certain parts of the season, especially with the likes of [Antonio] Colak injured and [Alfredo] Morelos not hitting the heights we would want.

The big question mark is can he stay fit? It has been a problem. I genuinely feel for him, I have met him a couple of times and spoken to him about it and you could tell he was devastated.

If he can’t stay to the level he might have to look elsewhere but where is he going to go if he can’t show that consistency? I do believe he has got a lot to offer if he can stay fit.
