Kemar Roofe posts Twitter message after he opens Leeds account in style

By Amir Mir

Kemar Roofe expressed his delight on Twitter after he helped Leeds defeat Aston Villa 2-0 at Elland Road on Saturday evening.

The 23-year-old scored his first goal in 23 games for the club after making a summer switch from then League Two outfit Oxford United.

Winger Roofe headed home after 68 minutes when Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini failed to clear Souleymane Doukara’s dangerous cross.

Chris Wood then scored his tenth goal of the Championship campaign when he netted in stoppage time to seal all three points.

Prior to the Villa game, Roofe had asked to be released from his “goalscoring curse” after his impressive display in the 2-0 EFL Cup defeat at Liverpool in midweek.

However, he was now delighted to have helped his side to their fifth victory in six league games as he posted this message on his personal Twitter account.

Roofe’s first goal for the club helped them maintain their play-off spot as they now sit in fourth place with 32 points from 19 games.

The Yorkshire club travel to Brighton next Friday with Chris Hughton’s side occupying an automatic spot.

Three points at the Amex Stadium will help Garry Monk’s men reduce the gap to Brighton to just four points.
