Kenny expects Van Bronckhorst to ‘struggle’ at Rangers amid dressing room claim
Rangers are facing a struggle under new boss Giovanni van Bronkhorst after Sunday’s loss to Hibernian.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the task facing the new Gers boss.
Rangers lost their Scottish Cup semi-final against Hibs 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Martin Boyle ran the Gers’ defence ragged as he bagged a first-half hattrick.
Van Bronckhorst was appointed as Steven Gerrard’s replacement on Thursday and was in the stands at Hampden Park.
Kenny insists Rangers are facing a bigger task than first thought as their domestic cup draught is set to continue.
“I don’t think experience is really necessary,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Look at Gerrard, he hadn’t done anything of note before he took the Rangers job.
“But they have got someone who knows the club well. He also has a great playing record.
“Rangers, Arsenal, Barcelona, that’s a pretty amazing career.
“I think that’s why Rangers went with him. He knows the club and he’s already a legend there.
“He knows what it takes to get the job done. That’s important because I think Rangers will struggle for a bit.
“That first week and run of games are really imortiant.
“I think it’s going to be tough. It might not last for long but Gerrard’s absence will affect them, as the dressing room were so close to him and he brought in most of the players.”

The Gers are next in action against Sparta Prague on Thursday.
They then return to league action with a game against Livingston on Sunday
In other news, the Gers are set to fight Nottingham Forest to sign Scotland-based star.
