Kenny shares ‘massive’ Sheffield United takeover claim after Prince Abdullah development

Paddy Kenny insists there will be no shortage of offers if Prince Abdullah steps up his efforts to sell Sheffield United.

The former Blades stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the club is “very attractive” to potential bidders.

On 17 November, The Athletic claimed United’s owners, United World Group, are open to offers for the club.

Prince Abdullah first bought a 50 per cent stake in the Blades for £1 in 2013.

He then won the right to pay £5 million for the other half of the club in 2019 after a battle in the courts.

Kenny insists the club is an attractive proposition and claims an invested owner can lead the Blades back to the Premier League.

“I can’t see the club not selling,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“People always want the best football clubs. Sheffield United is a massive club.

“I’m sure that under the right ownership the club can get back to the Premier League.

“I don’t think prince Abdullah has invested as much as the fans would have liked, that much is obvious.

“If it goes up for sale it’s a very attractive option. There is a great fanbase, a good stadium and a great training facility as well.

“I’m sure offers will come in if the club is being shopped around.”

United are 17th in the Championship after drawing 0-0 with Coventry on Saturday.

They are next in action against Reading on Tuesday evening.

In other news, Kenny names three Sheffield United stars who “need to go” in January.
