Kevin Campbell has given William Saliba his backing as the French Football Federation (FFF) investigate a leaked video of the Arsenal defender.
The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, urged the 19-year-old to ignore the headlines and concentrate on his performances at Nice.
RMC Sport report that the FFF are set to investigate an explicit video which shows Saliba in his French football kit while away on international duty.
The federation suspect that the video could potentially be viewed “as harmful to the image of the federation and football as a whole”.
Saliba is currently on loan at Nice after he failed to break into Arsenal’s first team in the first half of the 2020/21 campaign.
When asked by Football Insider if he was concerned about matters off the pitch effecting Saliba’s performances on it, Campbell said: “I do not think this video is a problem.
“He has done something when he was young. I believe the video is three years old or something. We have all done dumb things when we are young. You can say that was adolescence, he was young.
“Things like this always come out in the digital era. He will be alright though.
“He is playing really well at the moment and he won player of the month at Nice.
“Look, he has to just get on with it. You need a thick skin to play football, a lot of flack is flying around now. Let’s see how he handles it.”
