Celtic fans will be delighted if the Hoops are able to tie down striker Leigh Griffiths on a new contract.
The hitman has revealed, as reported by the Daily Record, that he is in talks with the club to sign a new deal, which would keep him at the club for the rest of his career, stating: “I’m still looking to commit my long-term future here. We need to iron out every detail but I’m hoping it’ll be done before the season is out.”
The player already has three years left to run on his current deal, but the fact that he is so eager to sign a new deal already shows a commitment to the club that fans will be thrilled with.
Having the 27-year-old desperate to stay with the Hoops for years to come is also a boost when the fans consider the doubts that linger over the future of some other Hoops attackers.
It seems likely that Patrick Roberts will return to Manchester City at the end of the season, while Odsonne Edouard is set to return to PSG once the campaign comes to a close, having yet agreed a deal to remain, and Moussa Dembele will no doubt be the subject of bids from clubs in the summer transfer window.
A team always needs a regular goalscorer, and Griffiths is certainly that, as he has scored 98 goals for the Bhoys in his time at the club, and his intention to stay gives the Hoops a boost going into next season and beyond.
