‘Khusanov is killing his career’ – Man City fans fume at ‘terrible’ footage

Man City were left frustrated on Saturday (15 March) after they shared the spoils with Brighton in their latest Premier League game.

City’s hunt for Champions League football was handed a significant blow after they drew 2-2 against the Seagulls, despite leading the game twice at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland gave his team an 11th-minute lead from the penalty spot, but Brighton equalised just 10 minutes later through Pervi Esteupinan.

Omar Marmoush then put City ahead again in the 39th minute, but an own goal from Abdukodir Khusanov brought Brighton back into the game again.

Pep Guardiola’s men were unable to break that deadlock again, and the game was ultimately seen as two points dropped for the defending Premier League champions.

City remain in fifth place but Newcastle are just a point behind them with a game in hand, while Nottingham Forest pushed further away by winning against Ipswich Town.

Abdukodir Khusanov had a game to forget

The game was one to forget for the 21-year-old due to the own goal as he kicked the ball into the back of his own net while defending a corner.

However, he wasn’t accurate with any of his attempted long balls, nor did he win any tackles throughout the match.

Khusanov was brought into the club during the January transfer window in a bid to sure up Guardiola’s backline, but he has struggled to adapt so far.

Man City fans are unhappy at January flop Khusanov

Khusanov has had a tough time adjusting to life in the Premier League, and his latest mistake was the final straw for a lot of fans.

City supporters claimed the centre-back is “overrated” and suggested that “City should sell him” after the game.
