Kieran Maguire: Glazers could now stay at Man United after £45bn takeover twist
The Glazers will consider all takeover options at Man United which includes Joel and Avram Glazer potentially growing their ownership of the club.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the takeover stance of United’s American owners.
As reported by ESPN on 19 February, US hedge fund Elliot Management has offered the Glazers financial backing to stay as owners of Man United.

Elliott Management, which has assets worth £45billion, is willing to help finance the Glazers despite the family facing fierce backlash from the club’s fanbase.
The American owners have grown debt at Old Trafford to just under £515million during their reign at the club, and they announced that they are open to investment in November.
While six members of the Glazer family own shares in the club, Joel and Avram Glazer have been the most involved with the club – with the latter spotted at Wembley this weekend for the club’s Carabao Cup success.
Maguire believes discussions with Elliot Management offers the chance for Avram and Joel to further their own investment in United by buying their sibling’s stakes.
“The Glazers are playing a cautious game with the Man United takeover,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“They want to extract maximum dollar from the sale of the club and the last thing they want to do is send out a signal that they will sell regardless of the offers that arrive.
“So by having discussions with Elliott Management they are exploring all options, one of which will be providing additional funds for potential capital expenditure.
“What we also could see is that the Glazers could buy out the Glazers.

“Not all of the six Glazer children are attached to Man United – many of them don’t even know the shape of the ball.
“We might see Avram and Joel try to buy out some of their sibling’s shares, and they will need money to do this.
