Kieran Maguire makes jaw-dropping Ratcliffe claim as he ‘digests Man United news’
Man United have given more power to Sir Jim Ratcliffe outside of footballing decisions to avoid ‘conflict’ between departments.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Ratcliffe can boost United’s commercial output as he i Britain’s “most successful businessman in history”.
As reported by The Telegraph, Ratcliffe’s power at Old Trafford has increased giving him more influence over key business decisions.
The British billionaire acquired a 25 percent stake in the Red Devils last month but was granted power over all football operations at the club.
Ratcliffe and his INEOS team have already started to make changes behind the scenes with Richard Arnold leaving the club to be replaced by Omar Berrada as CEO.
Maguire believes Ratcliffe being given more power avoids any risk of ‘conflict’ between different parts of the football club.
“Digesting the deal when it was announced, there did seem to be some things which didn’t make sense,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“If Ratcliffe is in charge of football operations and the coach wants to stay domestic but the commercial department wanted to tour Asia in pre-season to announce a new partner then who makes that decision?
“It would cause conflict between the two parts of the business.
“So it looks as if Jim Ratcliffe will have a greater say in terms of the commercial activities at the club as well.
“He’s been probably the most successful businessman in the history of the UK, so I’m sure he’s got some ideas that could be of interest and use to the club.“
