Kieran Maguire makes Sheikh Mansour claim after Man City twist – ‘fans will be delighted’
Man City fans ‘would be delighted’ if Sheikh Mansour made a rare appearance to join the club’s treble celebrations.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Mansour’s decision to not attend the Champions League final.
As reported by the Daily Mail, City’s owner has no plans to attend the Champions League final against Inter Milan next Saturday (10 June).
City find themselves on the verge of a historic treble after winning the Premier League title and beating rivals Man United 2-1 in the FA Cup final.
Mansour has owned the Manchester club since a £245million takeover in 2008, but has rarely been spotting watching the side.
Maguire defended his decision to not attend City matches as an owner, but insisted it would be nice for fans to see their club owner join the celebrations if they do secure the treble this season.
“The acquisition of Man City by Sheikh Mansour and City Football Group is a financial one to a minor extent and a profile-raising one to a larger extent,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“There is no reason for the Sheikh to attend matches in exactly the same way there is no expectation for Stan Kroenke, who is hardly ever seen at The Emirates after acquiring Arsenal.

“So it appears to be quite a common feature for billionaire owners to not watch the teams that they own – they perhaps prefer the comfort of watching remotely.
“Although I’m sure City fans would be delighted if Sheikh Mansour does come and join in celebrations if they go on to win the treble.“
