Kieran Maguire tells the Glazers to get real amid £6bn Man United takeover twist
The Glazers are unlikely to bank £6billion from the sale of Man United – a £4.6bn deal is far more realistic.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest on the fight to take control of the Red Devils.
The Independent reported on Wednesday (17 August) that three consortiums are considering a formal bid to buy the club from the Glazers.

It is claimed that the American ownership regime, who have previously reiterated their commitment to the club, would now sell up for £6bn.
United are bottom of the Premier League for the first time in over 30 years after two defeats in their opening two matches in 2022-23, including last Saturday’s (13 August) 4-0 humilation at Brentford.
Maguire insists that £6bn is “unrealistic” for a club in deecline.
“For a club that is bottom of the Premier League, £6bn does seem unrealistic,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“But we saw with the Chelsea takeover that potential owners are willing to pay premium prices for premium products.
“United are one of the top two or three football brands globally. People are willing to pay for that.

“If you look at the current share price, that values the club at around £1.8bn. You add around £500m in debt and as an enterprise value, that gives you £2.3bn.
“In a takeover, you would certainly add a premium. But whether that premium would take us from £2.3bn to £6bn, I’m not so certain. But you could certinly double it in the current climate, so £4.6bn.”
