Kieran Maguire tips Celtic to land six-figure sum after ‘exciting’ announcement

Celtic will have landed a six-figure sum from their partnership with telecommunications company Squalk.

That is according to football finance expert Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the potential windfall gained from Celtic’s latest commercial deal.

On October 8th, the Hoops announced their partnership with global independent telecommunications provider Squalk.

Squalk have created a Celtic Talk app which allows fans to communicate with each other for free.

Celtic’s head of business development, Gordon Kaye, said the club is “excited” about the “unique” partnership.

When asked by Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs for his assessment of the news, Maguire said: “Other clubs have done similar deals to this in the past.

“If I’m honest, I don’t think we are talking about huge numbers here. I think it will be six figures rather than seven, in all probability. That is not a huge sum of money to a club like Celtic. Celtic made £60million of income in 2020/21 season.

“Will a few hundred thousand help? Yes, of course it will but it will not allow them to make a big splash in the transfer market for example.”

Speaking to club media, Kaye said: “We are excited by this unique partnership with Squalk.

“We bring Celtic Fans across the world the opportunity to utilise a free communications platform that facilitates messaging, chat, video calls and allows fans to receive the most up-to-date Club news via the Celtic Talk Broadcast feature.”

In other news, a pundit has claimed Chris Sutton is ‘100 per cent’ right about Celtic and ‘Rangers fans will love it’.
