Kieran Trippier sends ‘unbelievable’ message to fans amid Newcastle exit whispers
Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier took to social media to celebrate their 2-0 League Cup win over Arsenal after being linked with a move away.
According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail Turkish giants Galatasaray retain an interest in Trippier and could make a move before their window ends on February 11, but the fans aren’t on board.
The 34-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Eddie Howe’s side booked a place in the final with a comprehensive 4-0 aggregate win over Arsenal.
Jacob Murphy was in the right place at the right time to open the scoring, latching on to Alexander Isak’s shot that bounced off the post to score into an open net.
In-form winger Anthony Gordon doubled Newcastle’s lead in the 52nd minute, capitalising on David Raya’s dismal attempt to play out from the back.
