Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken of his excitement about academy stars Ben Woodburn, Ovie Ejaria and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The three young starlets have delivered impressive performances in this summer’s pre-season and Klopp has stated that the trio have promising futures.
Woodburn, 16, scored in consecutive pre-season matches against Fleetwood and Wigan, while 18-year-old Ejaria was handed a shock start against Wigan alongside Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and new signing Sadio Mane.
Alexander-Arnold, 17, also impressed with a run which started in his own half to assist Danny Ings in the win over Tranmere.
“We’ve found three young guys in our own club – Ben (Woodburn), Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Ovie (Ejaria),” said Klopp to the Liverpool Echo.

“It’s wonderful – really important for the club.
“In four weeks we will see they are still young. Let them go and enjoy it. Step back, train and develop. Give them the opportunity to hide again and grow. They have a lot to learn but we’ve already seen there’s a real future for them.
“Until now the club has done everything right with these boys in terms of their education and development. I’ve seen it and enjoyed it.”
So far during pre-season, Liverpool have recorded four wins and four clean sheets, scoring a total of 10 goals against Tranmere, Fleetwood, Wigan and Huddersfield respectively.
The Reds have let academy graduates Jordan Ibe, Sergi Canos and Jerome Sinclair leave the club this summer, while Sky Sports have also reported that the Anfield club have accepted a bid from Bournemouth for left-back Brad Smith.
However, the Merseyside academy that has brought through Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Michael Owen, Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard in the past will hope that this summer’s pre-season youngster’s go on to play at Anfield for years to come.
In other Liverpool team news, Reds new signing Alex Manninger has hailed fellow goalkeeper Loris Karius as one of Europe’s best.
