Liverpool ready to blow Tottenham out the water with £25m bid for Bundesliga star - reports
By Matt Bullin
Liverpool have joined the race for Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa, according to a report.
German media outlet SportBild claim that Jurgen Klopp wants the Brazilian winger, and it is believed that a bid between £21million and £25million would be enough to secure his signature.
The 26-year-old was a fixture in Bayern’s side last season, but he has struggled for form this term and is reported to be unsettled.
Costa has made 31 league and cup appearances this term, and he has scored seven goals and laid on nine assists, but injuries have limited his game-time at the Allianz Arena.

He has also been stonewalled in his attempts to get a new contract, which suggests he could be ready for a move this summer.
Club president Uli Hoeness has taken a hard line over negotiations, saying, “That doesn’t work with us. He can try 10 more times. He is certainly not a hardship case.”
Costa has 18 caps for Brazil and has scored three goals for his country.
Football Insider verdict:
If Klopp and Liverpool could pull off the signing of Costa it would be a huge coup and a even bigger statement of intent. Costa is a truly top-class player and he was one of Bayern’s best performers last season as he contributed to 25 goals (scored seven, assisted 18) in his 43 league and cup games. This season he has fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena and is allegedly unsettled and perhaps available for a reasonable price. He plays on the left wing, so he would fit into the Reds’ system perfectly, and frankly the idea of him and Sadio Mane linking up will be terrifying for Liverpool’s rivals.
