Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted that key players Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino could return to his starting line-up for tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Stoke.
Both players were controversially dropped to the bench for the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield in Saturday’s late kick-off.
Klopp explained the decision to rotate his squad and hinted that both key players could return against the Potters.
“We had to make a few changes, it makes absolute sense at this part of the season to use the strength of the squad,” said Klopp, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“We had to leave a few out and that is what we did. It is not completely unlikely that they will start.”
Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the lead with a composed finish just after the hour on Saturday, only for Chelsea’s Willian to equalise five minutes from time.
The results leaves the Reds sixth in the Premier League table with 24 points from their opening 13 matches.
It means they go into tomorrow night’s clash at 15th-placed Stoke 14 points behind unbeaten leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool fans will be hoping that both key players can return to the starting line-up against the Potters, who are without a win in their last three Premier League games.
Mane has scored four goals and delivered four assists in 13 games in all competitions for the Reds this season.
The 25-year-old has missed much of the season with a hamstring injury and came off the bench in the 89th minute at the weekend.
Meanwhile, 26-year-old Firmino has scored nine goals and made five assists in 19 appearances in all competitions this term.
