Koeman delivers verdict on midfielder display v Leicester, identifies three key attributes

Ronald Koeman has stated that young midfield ace Tom Davies “showed his quality” in Everton’s Boxing Day clash against Leicester.
The 18-year-old midfielder made his sixth senior appearance for the Toffees on Monday, entering the pitch after 68 minutes for Gareth Barry.
The young starlet helped ensure his side all three points in the 2-0 victory and Koeman believes he was strong, comfortable on the ball and showed the necessary aggression at the King Power Stadium.
“He’s ready to play in the first team because he is part of the squad and trains every day with the first team,” told Koeman to reporters on Wednesday, as quoted by the official club website.
“He is developing in a good way and he showed that quality when we substituted Gareth Barry.

“He was strong, comfortable on the ball and I am happy with his development.
“I think he showed that aggression in midfield and he did not lose balls in certain moment in the game, which was important.”
Davies made his debut for Everton in the last campaign under former boss Roberto Martinez in the 1-1 home draw with Southampton in April.
He has seen more game time under Koeman this season with four Premier League appearances to his name already.
The Liverpool-born midfielder is thought of as one of the brightest prospects at the club and he has also already played four times for the England Under-19 team.
Davies will now be hoping for more first team football and with Idrissa Gana Gueye leaving for the AFCON in January he could be presented with an opportunity.
However, the Toffees have been heavily linked with former Koeman star Morgan Schneiderlin and the Dutch manager’s first thoughts will be to progress from their seventh placed placing.]
