Ronald Koeman made mistake after mistake in the summer transfer window and it has recently reported that he made a hugely comical error in not making more of an effort to sign a Manchester United defender.
Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf has recently reported that Koeman considered a move for Daley Blind in the summer, but decided to abandon his pursuit because of the priority of getting a new striker.
With Romelu Lukaku going to Old Trafford, Everton were left with a huge void up front which they were ultimately unable to fill.
So why didn’t Koeman return for Blind after failing in his bid for a new striker? The Toffees definitely need a new left-back with Leighton Baines aging and suffering a number of injuries.
Blind can play in a multitude of positions in defence and would have been a real asset to the Everton side this season if Koeman decided to make a move for the Netherlands international.
Allardyce must revive the hunt for the Man United defender in January now as it is plainly obvious that he isn’t in Joe Mourinho’s plans at Old Trafford.
He has made just 12 appearances across all competitions this term, featuring just four times in the Premier League and playing just one minute since the end of August.
Everton could be able to seek out of a cut-price deal due to him being so low in the pecking order with United and is an absolute no-brainer if Allardyce wants a solid defensive reinforcement.
