Kris Boyd in new Rangers rant live on air, makes surprise Celtic player claim
Rangers favourite Kris Boyd has blasted his former side following their 3-0 Old Firm defeat saying ‘not one’ player would get into the Celtic side.
Boyd, 41, went on a five-minute rant about the state of the club he once starred for in the aftermath of the defeat on Sunday and has now doubled down on some of his remarks in a new TV interview.
First-half goals from Japanese duo Daizen Maida and Kyogo Furuhashi and a 75th-minute finish from captain Callum McGregor have given the current champions a five-point lead over Rangers.
Rangers are yet to get going under Philippe Clement so far this season with just two Scottish Premier League wins under their belt and Champions League elimination.
Kris Boyd unhappy with the state of Rangers
Boyd doesn’t believe a single Rangers player would get into the current Celtic side, including Jack Butland now that Kasper Schmeichel has joined the champions.
Talking to Sky Sports News, Boyd said, “Jack Butland has been an England international, and last season you would have had him over Joe Hart because he was coming to the end but not that Schmeichel has come in, he’s not conceded a goal yet.
“I think, on current form, the Celtic starting eleven from the weekend, there’s not one Rangers player that would get in there.
“I think if you look at Celtic right now, they look far superior all over the pitch and if you want to rub salt in the wound as well, you could say there are 4/5 of the Celtic bench that could walk into the Rangers starting eleven.”
Rangers face Dundee United in their first game after the international break at Tannadice Park on September 15th.
