Kris Boyd left baffled by Nicolas Raskin after key error in Rangers win vs Falkirk: ‘I’ve no idea why…’
Kris Boyd pulled no punches when analysing Nicolas Raskin’s crucial error in Rangers’ 6-3 win away at Falkirk on Sunday.
Danny Rohl’s side came from two goals down to turn the game on its head at the Falkirk Stadium, as goals from Tochi Chukwuani and Raskin, combined with braces from Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski transformed the afternoon.
The Gers’ comeback ensured they stayed in touch with Hearts and Celtic at the top of the table, after both of their title rivals put another three points on the board on Saturday.
Rangers’ second-half display transformed the complexion of the game and made up for a lacklustre opening period, but there has still been plenty of concern about the way that they started the game.
Boyd was keen to ensure that players were held to account for the errors that were made in the first 45 minutes, even though Rangers came back to snatch victory.

Rangers’ title hopes were hanging in the balance during the half-time interval, as they were trailing 2-1 at the time, having conceded two poor goals from their perspective.
The second of those concessions saw Finn Yeats sweep home an excellent first-time strike from the edge of the visitors’ box, but he was left with far too much space for Boyd’s liking.

The former Rangers striker picked out Raskin as being the reason for that gap in the defence, as he bemoaned the poor organisation from the backline throughout the attack.
Boyd suggested that Raskin had sagged too deep into the backline, which left the space open for Yeats to drift in and fire goalward, while also adding that the Belgian would likely have blocked the effort had he been positioned slightly better.
“I’ve no idea why Raskin is standing next to his centre-backs,” the 42-year-old said during his half-time analysis on Sky Sports.
“That’s his space, leave that to your centre-backs, they can pick up Barney Stewart, and he steps up to block the shot.”
Rangers within touching distance of securing Raskin stay
Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Raskin is likely to leave Rangers at the end of the season if they fail to win the league title.
The 25-year-old unsurprisingly has ambitions to play regular Champions League football, and it still remains to be seen whether that will be a possibility for him at Ibrox next term.
Despite his error on Sunday, the midfielder is still a hugely influential figure for the Gers, and keeping hold of him for another year would be a huge statement of intent.
However, Rohl and Co. may now have that possibility within touching distance, as they will begin the post-split fixtures just one point off the top of the table.
