Kris Boyd urges Rangers to appoint former Everton boss to replace Russell Martin
Russell Martin’s job as Rangers head coach looks to be under increasing threat following their 2-0 loss to Hearts.
Rangers lost 2-0 to Hearts on Saturday, with a brace from Lawrence Shankland damning the Glasgow side to their first defeat of the season.
Martin has come under increasing scrutiny, having failed to pick up a win in his opening five Scottish Premiership games.
Simon Jordan urged Rangers to stick by Russell Martin despite their poor early-season form, but reports suggest Martin’s position at the club is under threat.

Kris Boyd wants Sean Dyche to become Rangers manager
If Martin’s poor form continues, it will surely be a matter of time before the 39-year-old is relieved of his duties at Ibrox.
Ex-Rangers striker Kris Boyd has urged the club to appoint former Everton and Burnley boss Sean Dyche as manager of the club if Martin gets sacked.
Boyd spoke to Sky Sports about potential Martin replacements: “The obvious one for me is Sean Dyche, Kevin Thelwell worked with him in the past.
“Thelwell seems to get a lot of say in the players that are coming in as well as sporting director so if that relationship with Sean Dyche is still there he would be someone I’d look to. He’s shown that he can build football clubs up and right now Rangers need a strong character.”
Thelwell was the director of football at Everton when Dyche was at the club, and their relationship would be crucial to the former Burnley man taking over at Ibrox.
Rangers must move quickly to wrestle back league position
Rangers find themselves in 10th, above just Dundee and Aberdeen in the early league standings, having drawn four of their opening five games.
Four points from five games is the club’s worst tally in 47 years, and the atmosphere was toxic as Rangers lost to Hearts on Saturday.

Martin has only won two games since taking over at Rangers in the summer, beating Viktoria Plzen and Alloa Athletic.
If Rangers are to get out of their early-season rut and climb back up the Scottish Premiership table, they may have to move on from Russell Martin sooner or later.
