Kris Commons makes claim about Rangers fans after Celtic brush aside Aberdeen

Sky Sports pundit Kris Commons has claimed that Rangers fans would have been looking forward to the Celtic game against Aberdeen on Sunday as hopes of a race for the Scottish Premiership title showed faint signs of being revived.
However Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops were quick to end any kind of speculation that the Light Blues could win their 55th Scottish title as they brushed aside the Dons 2-0 at Pittodrie courtesy of goals by Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney.
Former Celtic player Commons has admitted that he has been impressed by Rangers’ form as of late after Graeme Murty managed to start taking the club in a positive direction thanks to a good January transfer window.
The gap had been reduced to just six points ahead of kick off after Murty masterminded a 2-0 win over Hearts on Saturday and the Hoops may have started to feel a bit of pressure from their Old Firm rivals, especially after losing 3-0 to Zenit St Petersburg in Russia just days earlier.
But Commons believes that the reigning champions did what they did best to ease any concerns against Aberdeen.

“It hasn’t been a procession this time around. Rangers have been pretty impressive recently and their fans would have been looking towards Pittodrie with interest,” Commons said on the Daily Mail website.

“Over the last 18 months, it has almost been taken as read that Celtic would win. This was probably the first time in a long while that their Old Firm rivals would have regarded a fixture with a genuine bit of hope. If Aberdeen could have taken anything from the match, then Rangers would have been the other beneficiaries.

“But just as you think we are going to get into a title race, Celtic do what they do and win very comfortably to keep the gap at nine points.”

Rangers can re-ignite some pressure on Celtic if they manage to win against St Johnstone at McDiarmind Park on Tuesday night – 24 hours before Rodgers’ men welcome Dundee to Parkhead.
The gap could be back down to six points before the Hoops do battle with the Dee, however the champions’ home form has been very strong in domestic matches this season.
In other Rangers and Celtic news, controversial TalkSport host Adrian Durham has claimed that this key Bhoys man must quit Parkhead at the end of the season because of the Light Blues.
