Kyle Walker: Man City star ‘in trouble’ after latest twist – Expert

Kyle Walker could be “in trouble” at Man City if he cannot adapt his game as questions continue to grow about his recent performances.

That is according to former Man United and West Brom assistant manager Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that he must adjust his game to suit his dip in form.

This comes just days after Football Insider revealed that staff at the Etihad are “concerned” about the 34-year-old’s sudden drop in form.

The right-back’s usual electric pace has been called into question in recent weeks, and especially after he was beaten by Timo Werner in the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham.

Gary Neville has previously spoken about when he knew his career had come to an end, with Walker’s current situation compared to the former Man United man.

While Walker may not yet be in that position, Brown has insisted he must be aware if his body is slowing down and adapt his game accordingly.

This, it is said, will help prolong his career beyond the next couple of years and ensure he remains at the top of his game for both City and England.

Kyle Walker told what he must do to save Man City career

Walker’s recent performances have seen him targeted by opposition teams, and have caused a number of problems for Guardiola already this season.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with players at the top level after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Walker will be in trouble if he fails to adjust his game.

He’s been as good a right-back as you could mention,” he told Football Insider.

“The main thing that makes him that is he can give anybody a run and battle with the best in the business, and he relishes it.

“But what is he now, 34? There comes a time when you start to slow down.

“I’ve heard Gary Neville talk about it before when he says he knew his legs had gone and he wasn’t good enough to play at the top level any more.

“So I think a player realises suddenly, particularly pace-wise, when he can’t do what he used to do.

“Walker has looked at some of the best players in the world and thought ‘Go on then, we’ll race’, and he beats them most times, but now that’s not happening.

“So you have to adjust, you use your experience and you buy a yard. You change your game.

“But if he doesn’t have the ability to do that, or to accept where you are in your career, then you’re in desperate trouble.
