‘Kyle Walker to apologise to Rasmus Hojlund after Man City vs Man United clash’

Kyle Walker will apologise for his clash with Rasmus Hojlund during his Man City side’s defeat to Man United, Rio Ferdinand has said.

The Premier League champions’ struggles continued in the derby on Saturday, with two late goals condemning them to an eighth defeat in their last 11 games.

Walker was also involved in one of the games key flashpoints, theatrically falling to the ground after locking heads with Hojlund shortly before half-time, leading to both players being booked.

The Red Devils striker later mocked his Man City counterpart over the incident, and Ferdinand also believes the England international will eventually hold his hands up for what happened.

Speaking about the clash on his show Rio Ferdinand Presents, the former Man United centre-back said: “Kyle Walker, I mean we’ve had him on the show but bro, we need to talk bruv!

“Because that weren’t it. That wasn’t it bruv! You know it! I think Kyle Walker’s going to make an apology at some point.

“Not right now because there’s bigger things to do with the club and everything, but in time he’ll come on the pod one day and go ‘you know what, yeah, it weren’t a good one I won’t be watching that again’.

“You know when you watch your YouTube clips back like we all do? He ain’t watching that. That ain’t part of his YouTube clips!”

Kyle Walker will surely want to forget Man City vs Man United incident

Football Insider Opinion

It has been a tough period of late for Walker amid his side’s poor run of form, with the right-back’s own performances coming in for plenty of scrutiny.

This will have done little to ease the pressure on him, given the blatant nature of his attempts to make more out of the contact by Hojlund than there was.

That now appears to have put him in the eye of another storm he will surely not want as he tries to turn things around with Man City.

You feel therefore that having this hanging over him too will be the last thing that Walker would have wanted.

While he may be keen to simply move on from it, admitting he made a mistake and apologising as Ferdinand suggests, could also take a bit of heat off the Man City man.

For now though this unprecedented run of results means finding a way to get things back on track for his side has to be the top priority for Walker.
